Being a solicitor is a lot more complicated and regulated than most people realise. To be a practising solicitor these days means that you have had to prove you are qualified and regulated to the highest level. The Law Society (one of our regulatory bodies) has produced a number of documents that refer to these qualifications and regulatory standards that we subscribe to and are part of. Heres what they have to say about Solicitors:

How we promote solicitors

The Law Society encourages consumers to use solicitors by promoting their services and highlighting the unique selling points solicitors offer

Your solicitor – qualified to answer

Solicitors are:
  • able to provide all round advice and support
  • properly regulated and fully insured
  • excellent value for money

Most of us need expert legal help at some time in our lives. The law can be complicated so it's important to get the best advice you can. Solicitors are the experts when it comes to the law and how it affects you. So for legal advice that you can rely on, contact a solicitor.

Certified expertise

Many legal practitioners earn special recognition for their expertise in particular areas of law by achieving membership in one or more of the Law Society's accreditation schemes.

What are Law Society accreditation schemes?

Membership of Law Society accreditation schemes is voluntary. The expertise of scheme members in a given area of law has been verified, and their accomplishment is recognised by the Law Society. More than 16 per cent of solicitors belong to at least one accreditation scheme; in some cases, highly skilled non-solicitors achieve membership of a scheme. In total, more than 18,000 legal professionals are members of our accreditation schemes.
