What is the time limit for Employment Tribunal proceedings?

Most employment law related issues are litigated within the Employment Tribunal. The Employment Tribunal system in England and Wales operates very tight timescales with regard the issuing of proceedings, which must normally be within three months.

Alternatively, some employment law related issues can be dealt with within a County Court where different time limits apply.

How long will a claim take?

If you are pursuing or defending an employment claim it can often take up to six months if not more for an Employment Tribunal matter to be concluded. Often Hearings are delayed, which can extend the timescale in relation to pursuing a matter. Every case is different.
